How does a chiropractic treatment work?

First Treatment:

At the first visit, the chiropractor will take the time to listen attentively to the patient’s concerns and medical history, gaining a comprehensive understanding of their condition. A thorough examination follows, which may include neurological, orthopedic, and chiropractic assessments. Through these evaluations, the chiropractor aims to identify the root causes of any discomfort or pain. Once the examination is complete, the chiropractor will discuss the findings with the patient in a clear and understandable manner. They will provide a personalized treatment plan tailored to the patient’s specific needs and goals as well as discuss additional testing/imaging that may be needed. The first treatment will then follow.

Follow-up Treatment:

During a follow-up, the chiropractor will begin by discussing how the patient felt after the initial treatment, addressing any concerns or questions they may have. They will assess the improvements observed since the last visit, such as reduced pain, improved range of motion, improved performance or enhanced overall well-being. Based on these observations, the chiropractor may adjust the treatment plan accordingly, introducing additional exercises, therapies, or recommended a combined care with other healthcare professionals to support the patient’s ongoing progress. The chiropractor will provide guidance and encouragement, helping the patient understand the importance of consistent care and self-care practices to continue improving their health.

How many treatments are necessary?

The number of chiropractic treatments needed to alleviate pain varies on an individual basis. It depends on factors such as the patient’s specific condition, the severity of the pain, and how well they respond to treatment. Additionally, the patient’s commitment to actively participating in their own care by following the chiropractor’s recommendations for at-home exercises and self-care practices plays a significant role. Ultimately, the chiropractor will closely monitor the patient’s progress and make adjustments to the treatment frequency and duration as necessary, or recommend a team approach with other health care professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Cost coverage by health insurance companies

Private Health Insurance:

We invoice our services according to the Fee Schedule for Heilpraktikers (GebüH). Private health insurance companies typically reimburse these services, depending on the policy you have chosen. If you have included Heilpraktiker services in your plan, then the costs are usually reimbursed, often entirely or to a large extent.

In our practice, we kindly ask for payment directly after treatment, then you may submit the invoice to your insurance company for reimbursement, receiving either complete or partial reimbursement depending on your insurance policy.

We are happy to assist you if you encounter difficulties with the reimbursement of our invoices. However, we cannot guarantee complete or partial reimbursement of the invoice.

Public Health Insurance:

The German Chiropractors Society (DCG), of which we are members, advocates for more public health insurance companies to reimburse treatment costs partially or in full.

In our practice, we kindly ask for payment directly after treatment, then you may submit the invoice to your insurance company for reimbursement, receiving either complete or partial reimbursement depending on your insurance policy.

In these cases, we also invoice our services according to the Fee Schedule for Heilpraktikers (GebüH).
